Each year, up to 10% of all eligible dependents are selected as recipients of the Ford Sons & Daughters Program. The scholarship award amount is $3,000 per academic year if the recipient is enrolled in a two-year college or program or $5,000 per academic year if the recipient is enrolled in a four-year college or program. The award can be renewed annually for up to four years of undergraduate study.

The scholarship program is for students who, as of March 1 of the application year, are 21 years of age or younger and are legal dependents of employees of Roseburg Forest Products Co. The applicant must be a child or stepchild of the employee. For an applicant to be eligible, the qualifying parent must have been employed continuously by Roseburg Forest Products Co. for a minimum of 18 months prior to the March 1 application deadline.
 
Applicants must plan to attend any 2-year or 4-year, public or private, non-profit or for-profit, postsecondary institution in the United States that is eligible to participate in federal Title IV student financial aid programs. Students with existing bachelor’s degrees are not eligible for Ford Family Scholarships.

Scholarship amounts are awarded for both merit and financial need. Financial need is demonstrated by the recipient's Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form and college costs. Financial need is considered, but is not a required element. Applicants are encouraged to complete a FAFSA as they may be eligible for other forms of financial aid.

Below are additional selection criteria for the Ford Sons & Daughters Program. The applicant must demonstrate:

1. Leadership skills and leadership roles in school and community activities.
2. A concern for others and an involvement in volunteer projects and/or service organizations.
3. A contribution to personal success through paid work experience.
4. An ability to clearly communicate about personal strengths and goals and to present ideas clearly and concisely in both the essays and the required individual interview with a Foundation selection committee.
5. An ability to succeed in college as demonstrated by satisfactory SAT or ACT scores or a high school or college GPA.
6. A sound educational plan.

Apply online for the Ford Sons & Daughters Program through the OSAC website. The online application is available beginning in the fall of each year.

The Oregon Scholarship Guide is released in the fall of each year. Consult the OSAC website for application materials and additional information about financial aid and scholarships.

The Ford Family Foundation recommends that all applicants for the Ford Sons & Daughters Program submit the FAFSA even though it is not required in order to be eligible to receive the scholarship. However, in order to qualify for other need-based scholarships, applicants must file a FAFSA. Submit it online at www.fafsa.gov as soon as possible after January 1 and before March 1 to be certain it is available in time for review.

Your online application must be submitted by March 1. All eligible applicants are invited to individual interviews in mid-May. Applicant interviews are conducted from Oregon.
