Currently: Full-time practicing artist

Background: May studied with Larry Stobie at Oregon College of Education in the mid-1970s and has owned galleries in Salem. He has participated in solo and group exhibitions in Oregon, Washington, Florida, Utah, New York, Michigan and California. He was a 2008 Contemporary Northwest Art Awards finalist at the Portland Art Museum, received a Juror's Award in a past Oregon Biennial and a national Art Matters grant. Several museums hold his work in their collections, including the Hallie Ford Museum of Art, Boise Art Museum, Portland Art Museum, Tacoma Art Museum, University of Alaska Museum of the North and Seattle Art Museum. His work is also collected by private individuals in the Pacific Northwest, California, Nevada, New Mexico, Michigan, New Hampshire, New York and Connecticut.
