Ford Institute

The Ford Institute helps rural citizens in Oregon and Siskiyou County, California, create vital communities through  trainings, assistance grants and resources.

The Institute believes that vital rural communities develop from:

• A broad base of knowledgeable, skilled and motivated community leaders.

• A diversity of effective community organizations.

• Productive collaborations among organizations and communities.

Links to Other Organizations & Programs

Rural Development Initiatives (RDI), a nationally recognized, Oregon-based non-profit, partners with the Institute in recruitment, curriculum development and delivery of the Leadership Development classes.

TACS Supporting Nonprofit Success, based in Portland, Oregon delivers Effective Organizations and Community Collaborations training in the Institute's northwest region.

Heartland Center for Leadership Development, a nationally recognized authority in rural community development, created the original leadership development curriculum.

SOLV (www.solv.org). SOLV is a non-profit organization that brings together government agencies, businesses and individual volunteers in program and projects to enhance the vitality of Oregon

American Leadership Forum (www.alfo.org). ALF of Oregon is a private, non-profit organization that "offers a program designed to build bridges of understanding throughout the state.

Luke Center (www.lukecenter.org) - offers the Pacific Program, an executive leadership development program from the University of Oregon for elected officials, senior managers, Tribal leaders, and non-profit executives.
