Ford Scholars Program for Residents of Siskiyou County, California

The Ford Scholars Program is need-based and open to 1) graduating high school seniors 2) continuing community college students ready to transfer to a four-year college, who are pursuing a bachelor’s degree in California. This program is also available to residents of Oregon.

The Ford Scholars Program was created by Kenneth W. Ford (1908-1997), a founder of The Ford Family Foundation, to assist students who otherwise would find it impossible or at least very difficult, to obtain a college degree without financial assistance. He established the Foundation to help a number of worthy causes, but the Ford Scholars Program was always one of his favorite projects.

Tips for Completing Ford Family Scholarship Applications
  • Application and eApp Workbook available online at www.getcollegefunds.org.
  • Submit your FAFSA before March 1 to be certain it is available for review.
  • Complete the required Activities Chart. The online application makes it easy.
  • Treat it like a job resume – it has a similar purpose! Selection committees want to see what you’ve done and how you’ve already begun making your mark in the world.
  • Preview the Activities Chart.
  • Type or neatly print all submitted materials. Use white paper and ink dark enough for photocopying.
Transcript Tips
  • If mailing transcript(s) separate from application, be sure to include your 5-digit eApp number.
  • Unofficial or photocopied transcripts are accepted. If you have a transcript in an official, sealed envelope, remove it and send it without the envelope.
  • High school students: Submit your seventh-semester transcript (not typically available before January), which shows all the academic work you’ve done through the first semester of your senior year. Application packages containing only sixth-semester transcripts will NOT be considered.
  • College students: Send copies of your transcripts from each college where coursework has been completed during the last 10 years.

Failure to provide transcripts invalidates your application – no exceptions. Do not send grade reports or summaries.
