Announcing revised
grant categories and guidelines

The Ford Family Foundation has refocused its grant categories on four issues in rural Oregon and Siskiyou County, California. In addition, the Foundation will continue to provide smaller grants for technical assistance, as well as critical needs. Refocusing resources will promote greater impact and more lasting change.

The four categories are:

  1. Positive Youth Development

  2. Access to Health and Dental Services for Children

  3. Child Abuse Prevention and Intervention

  4. Public Convening Spaces

Responsive to community needs: The new focus reflects input from around the region. The Foundation will invest in the best ideas (in these categories) from nonprofit public charities that seek to drive lasting change on systemic problems and issues.

Committed to Scholarships and the Ford Institute: The Foundation’s commitment to its Initiatives (Scholarship Programs and the Ford Institute for Community Building) and its proactive grants (Foundation-driven grants) is not changing.

Watch a presentation by Foundation President Norm Smith explaining the ‘why’ behind the new focus.
