Connect with the Rural Community Builders NW Facebook group. This group is for advocates for rural people and rural places in Oregon and Siskiyou County, Calif. An initiative of the Ford Institute, it is an open space where rural advocates can tell their stories, celebrate wins, reflect on losses, ask questions, share knowledge, develop relationships, and expand and improve the pool of rural community resources.
The Ford Family Foundation publishes a semi-annual digest containing stories of rural life, success, and challenges. Community Vitality seeks to promote best practices in community building while celebrating all that is rural. Both print and online versions are available.
Ford Community Fellows Program was active from 2012 to 2016. They were graduates of the Ford Institute Leadership Program. They were nominated by Foundation and partner staff and received an annual Fellows Award for up to three years. Fellows were asked to focus their volunteer efforts on bettering their community as they “practiced the art of community building.”
