True Stories of Kindness Told Live

The Umpqua Story Project was formed in the weeks after the October 2015 shooting, at Umpqua Community College. The creative and experimental project has sought ways to provide healing to affected communities through story. Volunteers trained in compassionate listening collected hundreds of stories, both written and recorded.

Some of the stories will be shared in a live event on Saturday, October 8, 2016, 7-9 pm, at UCC Jacoby Auditorium, Roseburg, Oregon. Storytellers will include Dustin Cosby, Susan Rochester, Casey & Jennifer O’Toole, Justin Troxel, and Kelly Wright, plus there will be live music and food, and an art exhibit at Whipple Fine Arts Gallery (5–7 pm).  $3 suggested donation to benefit the UCC Strong Fund.

If you would like to add your story to the collection, visit The Umpqua Story Project website, and click on “Share." The project is sponsored by Umpqua Community College, Douglas County Museum and The Ford Family Foundation.

Update October 11, 2016: Read the Roseburg News-Review's coverage of the event.
