This book was a great "how to" for establishing a collaboration. It helped me understand that collaboration is a journey and it can have many facets. If you are trying to establish a collaborative group this is the book for you.

There are many valuable nuggets in this book, starting with the language of "we" and "our' and "us." As a member of a new Arts Commission, it's clear I have much to learn about collaboration and after having read the book once, I'm picking it up for a second read. Thank you TFFF!

This book is informational and practical. I found pertinent to the job that I do and the teams I work within. Looking back, I should have ordered in paperback form for the worksheets. Attempting to find the materials online with the access code was unsuccessful for me.

This book is extremely useful! It starts with a real life example of how disparate groups coming together to collaborate and the results of their collaborative efforts. IT then walks you through the stages of collaboration in an easy to understand, relatable format. I read this book from cover to cover in one day and found it engaging and interesting throughout. If you are curious how to approach collaboration with other organizations - this is a great place to start

This book is helpful. One I will refer to often as I work to build collaboration in our community. Out of the box thinking with practical ideas.

This book is great for collaborating in groups for projects. I was hoping for more of a community level of collaboration or collaboration with individuals.

This is an excellent guide to collaborative work in communities. It includes all the pieces that our necessary to building successful and sustainable efforts. It is written in an engaging style and includes clear instructions about everything I can think of that is needed for collaborative projects...from how to hold effective meetings, build trust, resolve conflicts and evaluate results. Everything in it is very pertinent for today and useful but it does use what some would consider "old technology" like printed checklists and charts. If you are a person who is not really into all of the digital project management tools or new innovation jargon or if you are working with a multigenerational group where some members do not feel comfortable with all of that, this book fits the bill!

This book seems like it would be great for big, inter-agency projects. It is workbook like in format and has many different templates to use for organizing and staying on track. I personally was looking for something dealing with collaboration on a smaller scale, say within teams or departments, and it didn't really seem to translate for my purposes.

very useful. much of the information can be transferred to other areas, such as case management or project management.

Collaboration Handbook: This is a very practical, “hands-on” book. I probably would give it 4.5 if possible since nothing really is a true five. The Collaboration Handbook tells you what to expect and how to meet challenges in a way that strengthens a new or existing group and the results desired. It is well written and easy to follow. The book is set up in a practical, logical and consistent progression. A case study is wound into each chapter. I enjoyed reading through this book and will use it. I highly recommend this book if you are part of or leading a collaborative process. Section/topics include: Finding and attracting the right people; Building trust among diverse groups; Changing conflict into cooperation; Selecting the best structure for your collaboration; Keeping people involved, enthusiastic, and motivated; Deepen the roots of collaboration. Practical, interactive tools designed to keep collaboration on track How to know if collaboration is the best way to accomplish goals. How to get started and keep up the momentum. Whether your collaboration has the necessary ingredients to succeed How to manage the four stages of collaboration. When it makes sense to test the waters with a pilot project. A case study following one collaboration process from start to finish Sixteen worksheets to help the group solve problems, plan successful strategies, and document progress

Very interesting and thought provoking! This book provides a fantastic framework for collaboration. The framework was relevant to my community and this book has been a very insightful resource. I would highly recommend this approach to anyone struggling to foster collaboration in their work.

This wasn't actually what I was looking for when I ordered the book. It is for organizations that want to blend more. I wanted collaboration within the leadership of one organization. Thus the reason for my lowish score.

This book is very relative to what I do on a daily basis and part of my job to collaborate and work with participants and other community partners. I appreciate the easy read and the step by step process there is in the book. "Collaboration Handbook: Creating, Sustaining and Enjoying the Journey" is more geared to working with colleagues than collaborating in a client/coordinator context. It is useful information that is helpful.

This collaboration handbook, another great publication by Fieldstone Alliance. They make the information so accessible and easy to grasp. I really think this is an invaluable resource. I have already recommended this to someone who is working with a board of directors on staff development.

A great book if you are working with several different entities, but less helpful if you are trying to work on enhancing collaboration within a single company.

I found this book to be really helpful as I tried to pull together a disparate group in recent project. The explanation of how to work together presented in this book were useful and clear. I found that the approaches were simple yet effective and I appreciated the insight into how to evaluate collaborative processes.

I using this helpful guide while actively engaged in a collaboration with many persons, many "styles" of working, and it is reassuring and helpful all the way. I enjoy the side bar notes and references that take me back and forward reminders that collaboration is not linear, it is a process and it gets messy.

Review posted January 22, 2015

Lots of resourceful worksheets in the appendix. Story example a little dry yet relevant by demonstrating an outline for community projects and step by step how-to collaborate.
