“When I work with our Alumni Leadership Council, I get a front-row seat to the impact of our scholarships. They have graduated, are in their careers, and are giving back to their communities.”

Sarah Boam serves as a program liaison to The Ford Family Foundation grantees, scholarship alumni, and scholarship reviewers and interviewers. She also provides direct support to program director Denise Callahan and increasingly is engaged in the Foundation’s grantmaking for post-secondary education initiatives.

Sarah also acts as liaison to the Foundation’s Alumni Leadership Council. “It’s like this cool club, and I’m an honorary member,” she says. The Alumni Leadership Council provides professional development opportunities, serves as mentor for current Scholars and builds community.

Originally from Eugene, Sarah earned her bachelor’s degree in sociology and women’s studies from Oregon State University. Prior to joining the Foundation in 2016, she was a recruiter helping others find work and worked for an international nonprofit helping girls in third through fifth grade build self-esteem and important life skills.
