He/Him

“Think about early computing calculators, how they used to be quite rare. Every decade brought a magnitude of changes until today, technology is a part of everyday life.”

Brett Averett grew up in Douglas County, where his interest in technology began, when he built his own computer in middle school. Today, he provides tech support for The Ford Family Foundation staff in the Roseburg and Eugene offices—and wherever they may find themselves across rural Oregon and Siskiyou County.

“I like working with computers every day, but I especially like being able to help people solve a problem,” Brett says. “And if I can’t figure it out, I’ll drop everything until I do.”

Challenges and opportunities that depend on technology are constantly changing, Brett says. He works with everything from audio-visual tools in the Foundation’s conference center to staff onboarding and online threat detection.

Brett is a graduate of Oregon State University, with a bachelor’s degree in history. Before joining the Foundation’s information technology team in 2021, he worked in the medical office administration field.
