Golden Spot (Oregon)

We support four "Golden Spot" residency programs in Oregon that provide opportunities for artists to explore or produce new work. Locations include Caldera, Crow’s Shadow Institute of the Arts, Pacific Northwest College of Arts (Leland Iron Works) and Playa. Golden Spots are defined by a distinctive environment that artists repeatedly find stimulating. Fifty percent of the funding supports the residency program; the remaining funding provides stipends to the selected artists to help offset life and work expenses. Requests for proposals are announced midyear for the next round of funding in the following year.

National Programs

The Foundation also has partnered with national programs to support residences for Oregon visual artists. Locations receiving support are  Djerassi, The MacDowell Colony, Robert Rauschenberg Foundation (through a grant to Alliance of Artists Communities), Ucross Foundation, Vermont Studio Center, and Yaddo.

Information for artists on specific residency programs and how to apply can be found on the programs' websites. See Resources box at the bottom of this page.

Oregon Artists at Work CATALOG

Oregon Artists at Work is a catalog that includes commentary on the artist residency program. It features 29 Oregon visual artists who experienced the magic of “away time” at Djerassi and Ucross between 2013 and 2016.
