Digital Communications Specialist
The Ford Family Foundation believes strong rural communities are built through informed, connected, and engaged people. The Digital Communications Specialist advances the Foundation’s mission, voice, and visibility by creating and managing digital content that strengthens engagement with key audiences and elevates stories from rural communities.
Reporting to the Communications Director, this role develops and publishes content across social media, website, email, and emerging digital channels while collaborating with program, policy, learning, and leadership teams to highlight the Foundation’s investments, partnerships, research, and impact.
The ideal candidate is a strong storyteller, writer, and digital communicator who thrives in a collaborative environment, manages multiple priorities effectively, and uses creativity, sound judgment, and audience insights to advance the Foundation’s communications goals.
This is a non-exempt position, and the hourly wage is $31.73-$33.75 per hour, depending on experience. Performance and compensation are reviewed at least annually.

Director of Community Strategies
The Ford Family Foundation is committed to strengthening rural communities and improving outcomes for children and families across Oregon and Siskiyou County, California. We work alongside community leaders, public systems, Tribal nations, nonprofit organizations, and other partners to advance lasting change through community engagement, leadership development, convening, policy engagement, research, grantmaking, and capacity-building efforts.
The Director of Community Strategies provides strategic leadership for the Foundation’s efforts to support community-driven system change through community engagement, leadership development, and rural capacity-building efforts. This role helps shape how the Foundation listens to, learns from, and partners with rural communities to strengthen local leadership, increase community influence, and support systems-level change. Working across the Foundation and throughout rural Oregon and Siskiyou County, the Director integrates community voice, field intelligence, and emerging opportunities into strategies that strengthen community capacity, inform organizational priorities, and advance long-term outcomes for rural children, families, and communities.
The Director leads a team of Community Strategists while serving as a key partner in aligning community-centered approaches with the Foundation’s broader strategic priorities. The role offers a unique opportunity to help strengthen rural communities’ ability to influence decisions, systems, and conditions that shape their future.
This is an exempt position, and the annual salary is $172,000-$181,800 depending on experience. This field-based position must be currently based in a rural Oregon community. Rural Oregon includes the small towns and unincorporated places outside the state’s major urban centers of Portland, Salem, Corvallis-Albany, Eugene-Springfield, Bend, and Medford. Frequent travel (approximately 40-60%) throughout Oregon and Siskiyou County is required to support community engagement, partner relationships, Foundation events, and regional collaboration. Periodic travel to the Foundation’s Roseburg office and other Foundation locations is expected. When not engaged in community-based activities, the position offers flexibility to work remotely in alignment with Foundation expectations
