Annual program gives funding for professional development projects that enrich teacher practice, schools and communities
ROSEBURG, Ore. — The Ford Family Foundation is bringing the national Fund for Teachers (FFT) grant program to Douglas County, Oregon for an eighth year. The program supports teacher-designed, summer learning experiences that impact their practice, students and school communities. From Reedsport to Glendale, from Roseburg to Winston, eligible public school educators in Douglas County are strongly encouraged to apply at fundforteachers.org.
Applications are open until January 23, 2025. Up to $50,000 total will be awarded to Douglas County teachers. Individuals may apply for up to $5,000 and teams up to $10,000.
Requirements
All licensed Douglas County public school teachers who have three or more years of experience in the classroom, spend at least 50% of their time providing instruction, and are committed to teaching the following year are eligible to submit an individual or team proposal for summer educational experiences they deem relevant to their careers and classrooms. Teachers may be teaching in grades pre-school through 12th grade. Submitted applications will be scored by a team for completeness and for meeting the application requirements. All applications are submitted through the Fund for Teachers website.
Purpose
Fund for Teacher’s mission is to enrich the personal and professional growth of teachers by recognizing and supporting them as they identify and pursue opportunities that they believe will create the greatest impact on their practice. These grants renew teachers’ passion for their work, nurture connections to colleagues at home and around the world and maximize their impact on students’ lives. Since 2001, FFT has invested $35 million in nearly 10,000 pre-K-12 teachers across the United States.
This initiative is part of The Ford Family Foundation’s ongoing work to support teachers and develop networks of high-quality teachers and leaders in Douglas County, Oregon who collaborate to bring improvements for students in both academic and life outcomes.
