Foundation names new Vice President of Learning and Impact

Dr. Kasi Allen, current Director of Learning and Knowledge Management, receives promotion to inaugural role of VP of Learning and Impact

ROSEBURG, Ore. The Ford Family Foundation is pleased to announce the promotion of Dr. Kasi Allen, who currently serves as its Director of Learning and Knowledge Management, to the inaugural role of Vice President of Learning and Impact. Allen will be responsible for leading research and evaluation, organizational learning, strategy development and measurement, and the production of high-quality rural data and knowledge — all in service of rural kids and communities. Allen moved to Roseburg to launch the Foundation’s Learning and Knowledge Management department in 2017, bringing more than two decades of experience as a professor, researcher and evaluator.

“Kasi is a dedicated leader whose career has centered on service and building common cause,” says Kara Inae Carlisle, the Foundation’s president and CEO. “She is committed to unleashing all of the Foundation’s tools, data and knowledge, skills and strategy to make meaningful impact for rural kids.”

Since joining the Foundation, Allen led the teams that launched the popular Oregon by the Numbers annual data report and the innovative Oregon Voices survey, which captures the lived experiences of residents in every corner of the state. She supported community-led evaluation efforts with the Foundation’s Rural Community Building team, co-authoring a hallmark study on the role of field-based staff and trust-centered philanthropy. During her tenure, she built strategy around data visualization and storytelling, as well as an organization-wide culture of learning. Previously, Allen served as Professor of Education – K-12 Mathematics at Lewis & Clark College and Senior Researcher and Team Leader at Inverness Research. She holds a Ph.D. degree in Educational Policy and a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and its History, both from Stanford University.

“I’ve been honored to work as the first director of learning and knowledge management—supporting the Foundation in growing its learning function, its credibility as a trusted source of knowledge, and its ability to champion rural people and places,” Allen says. “We’re entering a new era — Ford Family has a real opportunity to ensure our strategies lead to the results our rural kids and communities need. Working alongside our neighbors, leveraging the unique assets of this region, we know we can get there together.”
