Ford Sons and Daughters

Encouragement to keep learning beyond high school

The Ford Sons and Daughters Program was established in 1995 by Kenneth Ford to encourage Roseburg Forest Products employees’ children to develop their potential through continuing education.

Eligible dependents of Roseburg Forest Products employees in the United States who are 21 or younger with the goal of achieving an associate, bachelor’s or technical degree are encouraged to apply.

Successful applicants demonstrate

  • Initiative and commitment to success in school and other activities
  • Outstanding character reflecting positive behaviors and interactions in daily life
  • A concern for others through volunteer service and/or help with family needs
  • Responsibility and a strong work ethic through paid and/or unpaid work experiences
  • An ability to clearly communicate their strengths and goals, both verbally and in writing
  • A well-thought-out education plan and ability to succeed academically
Financial Award

Financial award

Each year, up to 10% of eligible candidates are awarded a Ford Sons and Daughters Program scholarship after submitting their application by March 1 and advancing to an interview. Awardees attending a two-year college or program full time receive $3,000 each academic year. Awardees attending a four-year college or program full time receive $5,000 each academic year.

Eligibility requirements

  • Be a dependent child or stepchild of an employee of Roseburg Forest Products. The employee must be full time and have been employed full time by Roseburg Forest Products for a minimum of 18 months as of March 1 of the application year.
  • Be 21 years old or younger as of March 1 of the application year. If selected, recipients may continue in the scholarship program beyond age 21.
  • Have a goal to achieve an associate, bachelor’s or technical degree (and have not previously earned a bachelor’s degree).
  • Will attend full time at a federally financial aid-eligible public or private, nonprofit or for-profit higher education institution, and be attending in fall of the application year.
  • Applicants with a felony conviction in their past must have satisfied the terms of the conviction by Aug. 1 of the application year.

Applicants are encouraged to file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or equivalent* as they may be eligible for other forms of additional financial aid.

*Equivalent for undocumented students includes the Oregon Student Aid Application (ORSAA) or California Dream Act Application (CADAA).
