A lifelong Oregonian, Insko brings extensive expertise in rural economic development, higher education leadership, public policy, and other areas vital to strengthening communities.
ROSEBURG, Ore. — The Ford Family Foundation is pleased to announce Tom Insko as its newest Board member. Insko is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Collins, a timberlands and wood products manufacturing company headquartered in Wilsonville, Oregon, with operations and land holdings in Oregon, California, and Pennsylvania. With a career spanning both the public and private sectors, Tom has diverse leadership experience and a deep commitment to sustainable forestry, rural economic development, higher education, and public policy.
Prior to joining Collins, Insko served as President of Eastern Oregon University for seven years, where he championed access to education and regional engagement. His earlier career included two decades at Boise Cascade, where he held various leadership roles, culminating in his position as Area Manager of the Inland Region.
Raised on a working family farm 35 miles north of La Grande, Oregon, Insko shares that his values of hard work, education, and community were instilled early in life.
“Serving on The Ford Family Foundation Board of Directors offers an impactful platform to advocate for rural communities, in critical areas like education and community development where rural perspectives are essential,” said Insko.
Insko currently serves on the Business Oregon Commission, Oregon Forest Industry Council, Western Wood Products Association, and the Eastern Oregon University Foundation. His previous board service includes the Oregon Board of Forestry, Eastern Oregon University Board of Trustees, Western Resources Legal Center, and the Northeast Oregon Regional Solutions Advisory Committee.
“Tom brings invaluable experience and insight to the table,” noted Toby Luther, chair of the Board of Directors. “We’re seeing and feeling that already – especially as the Foundation grows and evolves its strategy to meet the deepest needs across the region we serve.”
